Ok, if you've been reading this blog, you've probably noticed I have only posted books that I like. I figure you don't want to waste your time reading about a book I hated. But this one I had to share. I know many people out there love Mario Batali, and when I came across this book at the library I decided to take it home and give it a try. No dice. First off,
what is with the hairy legs and the orange crocs???? Ewwww. That turned me off right away. Secondly, many of the photos are in black and white. That is nuts, you are supposed to look at the pictures in a cook book and salivate! Is a black and white photo of asparagus saliva inducing? I don't think so. Lastly, the recipes were lame. There seemed to be a lot of repetition, and ingrediants that I don't like (fennel, octopus, radiccio) were used over and over. Sorry Mario, I take a pass on this cookbook.
Now, for an easy, delicious pork loin recipe. I make this all the time, and it tastes delicious!
Honey-Marinated Pork
2 12 to 14 oz. pork tenderloins
1/3 cup honey
4 minced cloves of garlic
1 T. orange juice
1 tsp. salt
1 T olive oil
¼ c. dry white wine
Whisk honey, garlic, and orange juice in small bowl. Pour over pork sprinkle w/ s + P. Marinate at
least 2 hours in fridge. Heat oil in
skillet, brown pork on all sides (saving marinade). Transfer to 375 degree oven, cook 20-30 min.
until temp in middle of pork registers at 150 degrees. Transfer meat to cutting board, rest 5
min. IN the meantime, pour marinade into
skillet, add wine and boil gently. Pour
over cut slices of pork.
