Interesting Graphic Novel

I have not read many graphic novels.  And the ones I have read I have not liked.  But this one was interesting.  I know many of you might be saying "what is a graphic novel"?  It is a hot new genre...loved especially by teens, and guys.  It is not just a comic book.  But it uses a comic format to tell a story that has a genuine plot, with character development, etc.  It's not just one funny Garfield strip after another.  I guess I was using the term "funny" sort of loosely back there.  Anywhoo, The Eternal Smile by Gene Luen Yang is unusual.  There are 3 stories, and each one has a story within a story, and each one is done in a completely different artistic style.  If you hate it, you will only have wasted 20 minutes of your life.

I made these with the kids.  They only took about 10 minutes to make.  We spread fluff, Nutella and PB on the inside of the Nilla Wafers and added a slice of banana.  Then we rolled it in sprinkles.  Fun, easy treat!
