Today I have 2 real treats for you. An amazing book and a fantastic, easy recipe. Local author Tina Egnoski's latest work really shows off her talent. Time of the Feast of the Flowers is a riveting story of two teenage girls growing up in Florida and getting into trouble...big time.
This is one of the most delicious things you will ever eat. I am not exaggerating. When you see the ingredients you will understand. Pizza dough and Nutella. Yum, yum, yum. I am embarrassed to admit that I am a huge fan of Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. But I am not embarrassed to admit that I bought her cookbook Skinny Italian because this recipe is awesome.
Nutella Pizza (it's actually more like a calzone)
Note: Save yourself time and use store-bought dough!
1 rolled out pizza dough crust (or use her Old world pizza dough recipe)
3 tbsps. of Nutella (a chocolate hazelnut spread)
1 tbsp. of confectioner's sugar
1. Position rack in center of oven, preheated at 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet or pizza stone with parchment paper. Roll out dough if necessary. Fold dough in half, leaving it loosely filled with air in middle. Use a fork to seal the edges, and don't deflate the dough.
2. Bake until pizza is golden brown, about 15 minutes.Remove and let cool about 15 minutes.
3. Cut open the flat end of the dough with a serrated knife to make a pocket. Spread Nutella inside the pocket. Sift confectioners' sugar over the top. Cut into vertical slices and serve.
