The Kitchen House

I loved The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom!  It was a Cane River/Roots read-alike, set in the south on a plantation, told from the point of view of Belle, a slave and a white indentured servant named Lavinia.  Grissom is an excellent storyteller.

 

Apple Pancakes

 

Another recipe found on Pinterest (for those of you who like to try new things, you are missing out if you have not checked out Pinterest)!  These were delicious, but did not look as pretty as the ones the photo!  Just peel, core and slice an apple, dip it in cinnamon and sugar and then in pancake batter.  Messy but yummy!
