Island's End by Padma Venkatraman; I had to read for class and I really enjoyed it. The author is going to visit next week, and I believe she lives right here in town! It takes place on an island off the coast of India (where the author lived briefly while doing oceanographic research). The tribe that lives there shuns all modern life. The protagonist Oidu, an adolescent girl, can communicate with the spirit world, and is chosen to be the next shaman of the tribe. She must decide whether to encourage or discourage her tribe to have contact with the outside world and how to go about doing that.
Taco Cups
We saw these on pinterest and my kids loved them! Just put 2 won ton sheets in each muffin compartment and fill with your favorite taco ingredients. We used cheese, meat (cooked), black beans, salsa, and then more cheese! Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
